Ok, gaming isn’t really dieing, and is not in need of saving. However, these games would Make gaming a whole lot better. So without further ado, let’s get going.
5.Pikmin 3.- Pikmin is Nintendo’s RTS series, and it is great. Their were 2 reasons to buy a Gamecube, for melee and Pikmin. And trust me, Pikmin was worth it. With it’s fun game-play and addictiveness, Pikmin was Nintendo’s newest hit.
Chances it will come out?- 100%, it’s in development, but nothing is known about it. At all.
4-Chrono Trigger 2- Chrono Trigger rocked. It’s one of squares most unique games, and was really fun. The plot was great, the characters awesome, and the time travel great. Sure, it was a little linear, but a sequel would be great.
Chances it will come out?- 30%. There is no word of a new game, and it’s been a good 15 years, but I do believe in the next 5-10 years we will get it.
3-Earthbound/Mother 4- No matter what you call the series, It’s a great series. These Zany RPG’s from Nintendo are unlike any you have played, being so over the top and ridiculous, but still great. While not very popular, they have a huge cult following.
Chances it will come out?- 70%. Maybe no time soon, But it will happen eventually.
2-The World Ends With You 2- TWEWY is a great RPG for the NDS, and the most original Square game in years. A sequel would be tricky because the first game wrapped up most everything perfectly. However, a game set in the same world would work, so it could be done, and done well.
Chances it will come out?- 50% Square wants to make it, but nothing official.
1-Shining Force 4- The Shining Force series is still alive, but it sucks. After SF3, the series went downhill, and fast. If SF goes back to it’s roots, It would be great.
Chances it will come out?- 25%- It’s sega, probably not, but who knows? They have revived Sonic…
Yes, for the next month Random Absurdity will have 2 Posts every single day for the entirety of December. One from me and one from soolseem. The catch? Every day we forget/ don’t post, We will do 20 Jumping jacks and upload it onto Youtube and post it here.
Also, Wii Speak is dead! Wii speak was a very pointless Peripheral, but at least it worked. It was only used in a few games, notably The Conduit and Animal crossing. Besides these 2 games, very few games took advantage of Wii speak, so it’s death means nothing.
However, PDP came out with a Headset that works with the Wii. So now you can actually use a real headset! This is being used for the Conduit 2, the upcoming FPS for Wii. So at least the Wii is doing something right for once.
Today Nintendo has released their release schedule for the rest of the year, and it looks nice.
Wii
New Carnival Games: September 21
Samurai Warriors 3: September 27
Wii Party: October 3
NBA Jam: October 5
Just Dance 2: October 12 Kirby’s Epic Yarn: October 17
PokePark Wii — Pikachu’s Adventure: November 1
FlingSmash: November 7 Sonic Colors: November 16 Donkey Kong Country Returns: November 21
The Wii has a pretty nice line up this holiday season, with 3 games in particular that look really fun. Kirby’s Epic Yarn, of course, is the game I’m looking forward to the most this year. The game looks awesome. Also, sonic colors is bringing Sonic back to his roots, which is nice.
Also, after about 15 years, Donkey Kong Country Returns, in Donkey Kong Country Returns. The DKC games have always been fun, and this one looks no different.
DS
Professor Layton and the Unwound Future: September 12
Pokemon Ranger — Guardian Signs: October 4
Final Fantasy the Four Heroes of Light: October 5
Art Academy: October 25
Rock Band 3: October 29
Mario vs. Donkey Kong – Mini-Land Mayhem: November 14
The DS does not have as great of a line up, but maybe that has something to do with the 3DS. With only 1 prominent game dated in November, I’m going to guess the 3DS will be out in November of this year.
Overall, Nintendo has a strong holiday season line up, especially if the 3DS comes out soon.
I know I said that Japan has better box art than us, and normally this is true. But sometimes America does take it up a notch, and improves the box art a lot. Time for examples!
As you can see, the American looks a lot better. It seems less cluttered, and more thought out. Plus, the drawing looks a lot better in the American one. The American one is still pretty generic, but i works, and Dragon Quest is always fun, no matter the cover.
It may just be my imagination, but the Japaneses version is terrible. It looks like they took some fan art and slapped it on. The American version is pretty good, and the game is outstanding.
The American version is a lot less bland. You see what the game is about, and the Japanese box doesn’t show you anything.
l love the American cover of this game. It’s Samus in the front, and behind her are a bunch of bounty hunters. The Japan version is just meh.
So, The American box art can be better. While rare, it does happen.
“Video games are bad for you? That’s what they said about rock-n-roll.”
-Shigeru Miyamoto.
Shigeru Miyamoto is a genius, creating titles like The Legend Of Zelda and Mario Bros, and is considered the best Video game maker of all time. His games have won numerous awards, and everything he makes is a classic. EVERYTHING.
This quote is awesome. Shigeru Miyamoto is a very wise person, and makes games that are fun, but still make you think to beat the games. Their not just mindless, you have to figure out how to win. Shigeru Miyamoto knows video games, and if he says their not bad for you, their not bad for you. And of course, he is a very innovative person.
Also, Shigeru Miyamoto has stated he is working on a new character. A new character can only mean one thing, and that’s a new Nintendo game, a brand new franchise. What it is is unknown, but I’m sure it will be great. Also, Pikmin 3 is well in development according to Shigeru Miyamoto .
Nintendo Is hardcore again, after today’s E3 press conference, its easy to see why. They had surprise after surprise, and didn’t stop until they were done.
It started out with Zelda:Skyward Sword. The demo almost ruined everything. The controls didn’t work, and the graphics were bland. It was actually a really bad start to the conference. It’s not coming out till 2011 so they have time to fix it, and i’m sure they will, but It really was a bad showing. Very bad, really.
Yes, their is much new info about the 3DS, and from a good source. Game developers. While just a mock up, this is what the 3DS is expected to look like.
Yes, the top screen looks much bigger than the bottom screen, which may or may not be bad. The bottom screen is still a touch screen, so that’s good. Also, I think the top screen is too big. It may not be bad, but we’ll see.
Also, it will have an analog stick, as seen in the picture. Its a lot smaller than ones on consoles, but it works. And having that and a D-pad is really good. It lets more ideas be able to be made, and lets games use one, the other, or both. And a touch screen. and 6 buttons that can be used.
I’m liking the 3ds more and more.
also, in case you care, http://www.thespeedgamers.com/ is streaming every Mario game live and raising money for charity in case you care. It’s really not that exciting, but it’s for a good cause. And it’s mario.
I feel like ranting today, so a rant their will be. And the question? Is the Wii the hope and savior of Nintendo, Or the problem.
From a business standpoint, the Wii has turned Nintendo back into a hige money making businesses. Sure, they made a lot of money in the Gamecube days, but not as much. Let’s face it, the GCN wasn’t that popular. But it at least catered to the Hardcore. My problem is that Nintendo says they want to cater to the Hardcore still, but they don’t. They promise innovation, yet throw some cheap gimmick of motion control at us and say “Look, we innovated!” That’s all fine and well, but where’s the stuff for the Hardcore?
Don’t get me wrong, I have no problem with casual gamers and games. Stuff like Wii Sports and Wii play is both fun and sell well, but no one knows how long the casuals will stay in the market. Also, most people who own Wii’s don’t use them as much any more. The game library is lacking in good games. 3rd party games are normally trash, but when one is good, it’s great. However, very few of these great games use much Motion sensing. In fact, the best Wii games don’t use much motion sensing at all.
The market for new Wii’s is dropping, with sales of the PS3 catching up to it very quickly in Japan and the US. In fact PS3 sales have surpassed the Wii in Japan just this week. So the question is, is the Wii really going to help Nintendo out, or not.
In the game Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Capcom wanted to add some DLC of characters they didn’t have time to add. While I’m not a huge DLC fan, sometimes it can help. However, Nintendo refused to let Capcom implement this DLC, which is really stupid. This shows one point. Nintendo is to controlling. If a company wants to be able to put DLC or somthing in its game, Nintendo should let them. But it all has to be approved by Nintendo for some reason. Recently, a fan made Legend of Zelda movie was made. Nintendo shut it down for copyright infringements. The people who made it weren’t making money or anything, and it shouldn’t have been shut down. I mean I don’t know, but I would think a movie might get people hyped up for the new Zelda game coming out, but what do I know?
Nintendo needs to start keeping its promises and go back to the Hardcore. Try to get 3rd party games on the system. Give developers more freedom. Stop acting like a huge corporation trying to make as much money as possible, and actually make quality games unlike Wii music. And you know what, that would make even more money.
Hope is not lost, for games like super Mario galaxy, Zelda Wii, Pikmin 3, and Metroid other M show that Nintendo wants to get back to the Hardcore. Plus, their have been more good 3rd party games in recent months, and more to follow. So what can we say for now? Depending on how Nintendo Play’s their cards, the Wii could be a huge success or a dismal failure. If they ever get the HD Wiivance however, I think the tides will change for the better. And the black Wii is pretty nice too. So ya, that was a long rant. I’m done ranting for a while. I’ll just leave this here for you then. See ya.
TL;DR Nintendo Needs to stop being a businesses and go back to it’s roots. And portal is fun.
Yes, guess what, my most anticipated game of summer was delayed! Who would of guessed?
I would of, that’s who. The reason for delaying it is apparently it was too close to the Super mario Galaxy 2 release date. What a wonderful reason to delay it.
Metroid Other M is now slated for august 31st, Sin and Punishment 2 on June 27th.
