Best Super Bowl Commercials 2012

Last night, the Giants yet again beat the patriots, to no one’s surprise. And while it was a great game, there were some good commercials as well. Let’s take a look.

Maybe it’s just The Fact I like Will Arnett, because he was in Arrested Development. But I’ve always liked how Hulu is trying to take over the world. Hulu + is cool, but netflix is still better.

Awake finally has a a starting date, and It’s a show I have high hopes for. It is on NBC so I don’t see it lasting long, But I hope it’s probable short run is good.

“We have a Hulk” Pretty much the line when I knew this movie would be awesome.

I love this one. Go buy a chevy to survive the apocalypse. now.

I like dogs. I like Dorito’s. I don’t like cats. I love this commercial.

Well, those are my top picks for this year’s superbowl. For more, go here:

DC The New 52: Some thoughts

So DC has had a massive reboot, and all 52 new comics are out. He are some of my first impressions of the books. Not all of them, but a good amount of them. And the question is, did the reboot help?

The Flash- I didn’t care mush for this one, not bad, but not great. Nothing really happened. Rating- meh

Captain Atom- Same as the flash. Nothing about it makes me want to continue. Rating- meh

Green Arrow- Yet again, this one wasn’t great. At least it had some decent action, but it just seemed pointless. Rgreat here either. Rating- meh

Mister Terrific- It wasn’t terrific, but it was good. We got back-story, a mystery, and a great cliffhanger. This series has potential, but we’ll see. Rating-hmmm

DC Universe Presents- This one was pretty good, and was centered on Deadman. I really like Deadman, so seeing how he’s actually being featured more is nice. A solid book. Rating- good

Batman- In this reboot, they’re are 4, yes 4 different Batman comics (Not spin-off characters), and this is the one I’d recommend. Scott Snyder knows batman, and the writing is really good. The mystery good, and the art good as well. This is one of the best of the relaunches. Rating- great

Detective Comics- not as good as Batman in anyway. Not bad, but no reason for it. Rating- meh

Batman: The Dark Knight-pointless. Completely. Rating- Pointless

Batgirl- Suffers from a few cliches, but Gail Simone is a really good writer, and it shows. Being someone who has always liked Oracle, I’m kind of disappointed that Barbara Gordan has went back to Batgirl. Still, a really good start, which I have high hopes for. Rating- great

Nightwing- Dick Grayson is one of my favorite DC characters, only surpassed by Bruce Wayne himself. Seeing him finally get his own comic as Nightwing and not Batman is nice. While this issue wasn’t amazing, it was pretty good. If you like Grayson, you’ll like this. Rating- good.

Green Lantern Corps- This was actually pretty good, but I’m not a big green lantern fan. Rating- hmm…

Green Lantern: New Guardians- didn’t care for it. Rating-meh

Static Shock- Static shock was mostly just set-up, but it was pretty good. It introduces the characters, and sets up the plot, and overall is pretty good. Rating-good

Blue Beetle- I like blue beetle a lot, but this issue wasn’t that great. It did set stuff up, but that’s it. No action or anything. The story does have some great potential, but thus just didn’t cut it. Rating- hmmm…

Grifter- Confusing, and not that great. Rating – meh

Deathstroke – just stupid. Rating- bleh

All-Star Western- If all you know about Jonah Hex is the crappy movie, you should get this so you can see just how awesome he really is. This is probably My favorite book of the new 52. Hex gets hired to solve a crime in the newly created town Gotham, and it’s really great. He’s a cowboy Batman. Rating- Amazing.

Justice League Dark- Weird. I like where it’s going, but this issue just seemed odd. Rating -weird.

Animal Man- Just look at his name, how good could it be? Answer, really good. I mean it, this book is just really well written. Rating – great

Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E. – I don’t know much about DC’s Frankenstein, but this book was good. It didn’t take itself to seriously, but at the same time, it had a good plot and the characters aren’t bad. Rating- good

I, Vampire- Boring. Before you accuse it of being like twilight, it’s not, so don’t. It’s just boring, but I like the Art style. And it looks like the plot may go somewhere. Might. Rating- boring.

Resurrection Man- Mitch Shelly won’t stay dead. Every-time he dies, he comes back to life with new powers. His soul is wanted apparently wanted by angels, and demons. Yes, everyone wants him dead for good. This book is going places, and I like it. With a gritty art style, a good protagonist, and a good plot, we have a winner. Rating – Great

So The Reboot has some good, some bad, and some terrible. We’ll see where it goes from here.

Random Quote Thursday

Reality continues to ruin my life.

-Calvin

I love Calvin and Hobbes. A lot. In fact, it is one of my favorite Comic strips of all time. It’s great. Plus, their are so many good quotes. Like this one. Reality is destroying my life. Literally. If Reality didn’t exist, I would not age, and would never die. I hate reality.

Also, Reality has been keeping me from updating the blog more often. Or more often I’m just to lazy to. However, it is the second age of Random Absurdity. Updates all the time, or at least almost day. Flying Monkeys, reviews, Previews, it’s all coming back. Plus, a new mini-series before the end of the year. But for now, how about a few more quotes?

-As a math atheist, I should be excused from this.

I don’t believe in math either.

-This one’s tricky. You have to use imaginary numbers, like eleventeen …

See what I mean?

Calvin: I’m a genius, but I’m a misunderstood genius.
Hobbes: What’s misunderstood about you?
Calvin: Nobody thinks I’m a genius.

-I understand my tests are popular reading in the teachers’ lounge.

Have your ever written something on a test or assignment that’s so wrong or hilarious? I haven’t, but I’ve came close.

The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes: Breakout Part 1 and 2 Review

Their is a new Avengers cartoon, and it is awesome. And whey I say awesome, I mean awesome. While most cartoons now suck, Disney is actually making a good one.

Their are 4 super villain prisons in the world, all owned and operated by SHIELD. These prisons contain 74 villains, such as The Leader, The mad Thinker, Graviton, Absorbing Man and many more yet to be revealed. The show starts with a huge breakout. All the villains get loose, worst of all Graviton. Graviton can control gravity, and is therefore super powerful.

Luckily, their are many heroes around to help out. Iron Man, who I thought only Downy jr. could voice well, is voiced well by Eric Loomis, is the first to be on the scene. Soon, Thor is also there to help beat him up. Ant man and wasp then join, doing nothing useful. It is then revealed in a flashback that Graviton was Nick Fury’s friend, but when an experiment went wrong, Fury locked him up.

Unfortunately, Graviton sends Iron Man to space, Thor to the bottom of the ocean, and renders wasp and ant man useless. But its ok because the Hulk comes in to beat graviton up. After the Hulk does all the work, Nick Fury congratulates them for doing a good job, And Iron Man decides that together they can catch all of the escapee’s.

Overall, It was really good. Disney did not hold back, the animation is great, the voice acting is top-notch, the action is non-stop, the story is far-fetched, but it is Marvel. With a supporting cast of Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Black Panther and more to come, Marvel is not forgetting anyone. Plus, their is death. Not a lot or very gruesome, but it’s still nice to see disney not being scared to do it their way.

score- 9.5/10

No really, go watch it.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Review

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Is not the greatest movie ever like Toy Story 3 or Inception, but it is good, and very unique. Michael Cera stars as Scott Pilgrim, a nerdy kid who just got a girlfriend and is in a band that has potential. But then he meets Ramona Victoria Flowers, a girl who he falls in love with when he first sees her. There is only 1 problem, Ramona has 7 evil ex boyfriends who want to kill him. And he must defeat them all.

While the plot is simple, that is a great thing, because is keeps the movie fast paced. Since there are 7 evil Ex’s, there are many battles, most of them 1 on 1. Also, the movie is very unique. It has a Video game feel to it, and it is a good thing. This is what makes the movie awesome, the references to everything. There is zelda music, references to many popular Video and comic series, and pretty much anything.

http://nerdbastards.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/scott_pilgrim_vs_the_world_teaser_poster_1-550x814.jpg

The movie has sound effects written in, which is seen in comic books, and it’s the first time I’ve seen it in the movies. It’s very weird, but effective. Plus, when a character is introduced, a little info box pops up. The action is fast paced, and the characters are great. All of them.

Overall, this is a movie that should be seen. While not the greatest movie, a very good one. Very good, so if you havn’t seen it, see it.

9.3/10

Also, expect more regular updates again.

Thor Movie Trailer.

The Thor movie trailer has been leaked, and it looks awesome. While all the videos of it on youtube were taking down, it can still be found, here.

http://www.kino-govno.com/players/jwflvplayer4.swf?image=http://media.kino-govno.com/movies/t/thor/trailers/7913t.jpg&file=http://www.kino-govno.com/kgfix.php%3Fnum%3D7913%26url%3Dhttp://media.kino-govno.com/movies/t/thor/trailers/thor_trailer_480.flv&stretching=unified&type=video

While I don’t know too much about Thor, this movie looks awesome. Asgard looks like asgard should, and is very well done. The plot looks good, and from what I know seems to follow the comics too a degree.

Overall, this is one 2011 movie you need to see.

Random Quote Thursday

“I am the… Batman.”

I love this quote by Batman. It’s short, sweet, and to the point. He is Batman, one of the coolest superheroes ever. While I’m not a big DC fan, Batman is still awesome. His comics are good, his movies are great, even his Video games are good. I mean arkham asylum was highly praised and won many awards.

And as a bonus.

Commissioner Gordon: It could be any one of them… But which one? Which ones?
Batman: Pretty *fishy* what happened to me on that ladder…
Commissioner Gordon: You mean where there’s a fish there could be a penguin?
Robin: But wait! It happened at sea… Sea. C for Catwoman!
Batman: Yet, an exploding shark *was* pulling my leg…
Commissioner Gordon: The Joker!
Chief O’Hara: All adds up to a sinister riddle… Riddle-R. Riddler!
Commissioner Gordon: A thought strikes me… So dreadful I scarcely dare give it utterance…
Batman: The four of them… Their forces combined…
Robin: Holy nightmare!

This was a “Great” riddle and logic from an outstanding movie. While yes it was cheesey, it was still fun. Because you know who it is, it’s the Batman.

Captian America Movie Details.

In the upcoming Captain America movie, Chris Evans will play Steve Rogers, AKA Cap. Chris Evans is known for being the Human Torch in the fantastic 4 movies. While not the best actor I’ve seen, I’m not to worried, as it will probably be fine.

The villain in this movie is none other than the Red Skull. He is cap’s Arch enemy, and a great powerful villain. Other than Dr. Doom, the red skull is my favorite Marvel Villain, so it will be fun to see.

However, the real news is Cap’s outfit for the movie has been released.

I really like the new outfit. While not his original, it still looks and feels like it belongs. It’s not too corny, he looks cool, and it’s Captain America.

http://thecarter.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/captain_america.jpg?w=655

Much better than the 1990 Cap movie.

Captain America: The First Avenger will come out July 2011. I can’t wait.

Random quote Thursday

I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.
— Pogo

To be honest, I know very little about the cartoon strip pogo, but it looks pretty cool.

http://collateraldamage.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/pogo.gif?w=655

Back to the quote though, as it is very good. Having a battle of wits with an unarmed person is never fair. You’ll always win.

Always.

As you can see, This Pogo dude is very smart. Most likely the smartest cartoon character ever.
